Don't forget the many ups and occasional downs of being a 41-year-old newlywed, mother, almost empty nester, and social butterfly.

 So, I must tell you a funny story...one that shows that I am as air-headed as I have been told I am a time or two. Don’t get me started on how I discovered why a flip-flop is called a flip-flop and that a cun**air is NOT, in fact, an actual unit of measurement but rather a very disturbing and vulgar term used by many in the trades (I thought it was one word, it was used in football a lot...it's a long story, but you get the gist). Our Book Club is Better Than Your Book Club

Just Kidding! But we sure do have a lot of fun, laughs and sometimes we read the book. Lindsey was the host this month and she made an amazing seafood tower filled with shrimp, scallops, and mussels. Served with rice, salad and of course a beautiful charcuterie board for appetizing. I brought Monkey Bread with vanilla ice cream for dessert, it was a big hit!   As I have said before I have a decent size group of girlfriends that all bring something to the table personality-wise. We will get into that as time goes by. Our book club rotates from house to house, and we are spoiled rotten by one another with an amazing meal, drinks, desert, and conversation; serious, supporting, loud, funny, and even downright hysterical at times. All bringing us closer together with each gathering. Sometimes just a good excuse to get out of the house. Do you ever really need a reason to get together with your tribe? We sure don’t! An Oldie: SAFE!! (Originally Posted 4.20.2011)

SAFE! It takes a special person to be a stay-at-home-mom! I have always felt that it was one of the hardest jobs in the world, albeit rewarding, very hard! At times I have felt it was harder than a 9-5.  So, today, as I flew down Metro Parkway going about 70 mph, I thought of this.  I have a meeting that is scheduled to start anywhere from 10-11:30am every Wednesday, I know this, but had my fingers crossed it was closer to 10...it started at 11. I had to leave no later than 11:15 to get to the school for "Fish Days" with my Olivia. I left at 11:25... Back to my thoughts on 16 Mile Road...it takes a special person to be a stay-at-home-mom. It is one of the hardest, albeit rewarding, jobs in the world.  Now, I know my girl, and I know that as each minute ticked past 11:45 her heart sank a little deeper into her stomach, as did mine.
